LOOKING FOR A CHARITABLE CAUSE? ODUMEHAJE COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU
This Primary Healthcare Clinic (PHC), serves an estimated population of 11,000 people in Odumehaje community. It is situated in Aobida, one of the conglomerates of the 3 villages that make up the Odumehaje community in Okpokwu LGA of Benue state, Nigeria.
In 2007 when Odumehaje Christian Medical Mission(OCMM) began taking Free Medical Mission(FMM) to the community, the PHC was the only health facility in the entire community.
OCMM engaged it for a few years and later left for another temporary facility which was provided by the Catholic Church in the neighboring Aokpe community – another of the 3 villages. Later, the Church needed the facility for another purpose so OCMM had to return to the Aobida PHC she had left.
The state of the clinic worsened since it was out of use for a few years. The roof and ceiling were broken down and leaking; doors, windows and window nets were out of order and the entire building dilapidated.
OCMM took up the challenge in November 2017 and renovated the facility, fairly equipped it and it was put to use during her Free Medical Mission( FMM) of 2018.
In the years following, OCMM’s outreaches were held in another facility in a neighboring community which is now unavailable for our use. Returning for another FMM in December 2022, there was a need to renovate the Aobida facility to ensure its good condition which OCMM once again handled.
The facility is back again to its normal state of being under lock and key since after the FMM. This remote and disadvantaged community of about 11,000 people have nowhere to turn to for basic health care at the moment.
Thus, OCMM in the fulfillment of her mission, seeks to make Holistic Healthcare Available, Accessible, Affordable and Sustainable to Odumehaje community and her environs by partnering with organizations and individuals of goodwill to help with achieving her mission by donating finances and resources to this project.
