A renewed call has gone to the Nigerian Christians and Faith Based Organizations across the country to intensify recognition to christians who have distinguished themselves for the service of God and humanity especially in the areas of charity, sacrifice, love and cultivating men for the kingdom of God as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
The Call was made by the clergyman, Reverend I. k Atim, Pastor in Charge of NKST Kano while delivering his sermon during the Easter thanksgiving service and book launch of the Universal Reformed Christian Church also known as NKST, in Kaduna South, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
The Maiden Service featured the 10th Priestly Anniversary Thanksgiving of the Resident Pastor, Reverend Joseph M. Burbwa, a book launch and award of excellence to him and other worthy individuals for their contributions to humanity and his particular leadership and discipleship style which has impacted immensely to the growth and expansion of the church.
Responding, the spiritual head, icon, mentor and teacher, Rev. Joseph Burbwa said some of his achievements which included philanthropy and help for the less privilege including free medical missions were in collaboration with some worthy Nigerians within and outside the church, hence the need for recognition and appreciation.
He explained that the book launched titled, “Tsombor u Doo sha inja I Orkristu” which he authored, was a pointer that would go a long way in repositioning and strengthening the capacity of Christian homes inline with godly foundations to enable them stand the test of time amidst the challenges of marriage.
Rev. Joseph Burbwa said it was a period for sober reflection, rebirth, stock taking, gratitude, purity as well as preparation to face the challenges ahead as the church marked Easter, so that the death and resurrection of christ would not go in vain.
Reacting to the award, one of the awardees, CEO, Odumehaje Christian Medical Mission, OCMM, Dr. Paul Odumu said he felt flattered, adding that he gave God the glory and appreciated the OCMM team, colleagues and family including the church’s pastor, elders and deacons whose cooperation he said were the reason for the successes recorded.
Dr. Odumu described the award as most special to him and said it would spur him and his team to do more for the good of humanity. He further dedicated the award received to all OCMM volunteers and supporters over the years.
The Awardee who is a Consultant Family Physician with the 44 Army Reference Hospital was conferred with an award of Excellence for Humanitarian Service alongside other 8 members at the Universal Reformed Christian Church also known as NKST in kaduna south, Kaduna, Nigeria.
The medical practitioner who is said to have impacted immensely the lives of many Nigerians via Medical and Surgical Outreaches across Nigeria in past and recent years, expressed a renewed commitment to doing more with a view of winning souls for the kingdom of God.
The event with the theme “Tenth Priestly Anniversary; Thanksgiving, Book launch and Award” was attended by many including a representative of the governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom, Benue State University(Ms. Grace Adagba); Brig. Gen. Jonathan Aun of the Nigerian Army Headquarters Yaba, Lagos; Guest Speaker, Rev. I. K. Atim, Pastor in Charge of NKST Church Kano; Vice Chiarman, Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Kaduna State African Institute For Public Administration ( Prof. F. M Tyoor), Accra, Ghana; and Rev. Dr. Chris T. Annger who was the book reviewer and presenter.
