Gift Lupus Foundation (GLF), in collaboration with the Nigerian ministry of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Health Services and Environment, Odumehaje Christian Medical Mission (OCMM), and the World Lupus Federation, orchestrated a groundbreaking event on World Lupus Day, May 10th, 2024. The event was aimed at shedding light on Lupus, a disease often shrouded in misunderstanding. This illuminating event unfolded at the prestigious Conference Hall of the Royal Choice Inn Hotel, Abuja, drawing attention to critical aspects of Lupus awareness and management.
The program commenced with registration and ushering in healthcare workers and participants from other fields of endeavors into an enriching training session anchored by medical experts who delved into key topics vital for understanding Lupus and its multifaceted impact on health.
The Chiarman and CEO of OCMM, Dr. Paul Odumu, who is a consultant Family Physician and a Director with the Nigerian Ministry Of Defense, illuminated the high chances of delayed diagnosis in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) in primary care. Dr. Andrew Iduh, an ENT Surgeon, navigated through the ear, nose, and throat manifestations of SLE, while Dr. Abubakar Ogeriya, also a Family Physician and Internal Medicine Specialist, dissected the cardiac and renal manifestations of this complex disease.
As the evening progressed, the program took on a more poignant tone with the arrival of dignitaries and invited guests, segueing into the dinner Party. Opening remarks were given by Dr. Loveth Ikongo Ononuga, the visionary founder of Gift Lupus Foundation, encouraging everyone present to make Lupus Visible.

The program’s momentum soared as Dr. Dolapo Fasawe shared heartfelt remarks on the enduring partnership with GLF and unveiled the highly anticipated GLF magazine, the first of its kind in Nigeria, setting the stage for the magazine’s official launch.
